R&B legend Brandy is stepping into a new chapter of her career—writing a book. The multi-talented icon announced her debut memoir is scheduled to release October 7 via Hanover Square Press. While the book's title is still under wraps, Brandy promises an intimate account of her journey from McComb, Mississippi, to becoming a household name in music, television, and film.
The memoir will explore Brandy’s humble beginnings, signing her first record deal at just 14, and her rise to fame as a teen sensation. It will also dive into her experience starring in the beloved sitcom Moesha and breaking barriers as the first Black actress to portray Cinderella onscreen.
But this book isn’t just about Brandy’s professional milestones. It will candidly reflect on her life behind the scenes, addressing the pressures of stardom, the highs and lows of her career, and personal growth.
“Writing my memoir was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life,” Brandy shared on social media. “I allowed myself the space to be fearless and vulnerable to reveal some of my most intimate moments. For the first time, I am sharing my story—honest, unfiltered, and not through the lens of media or critics.”
Brandy also expressed her hope that the memoir will connect with readers: “This memoir is more than a book; it’s a reflection of resilience, hope, and rediscovering myself beyond the fame, the music, and the spotlight. This memoir is a lifetime in the making, and I hope my words bring inspiration as you navigate your own journey.”
The memoir is now available for preorder.
Brandy’s Awards Season Highlights
